Obituary

Marolyn Arlene Pitts Cooper, 92, of Wellington, died April 18, 2016, in Medina. She was born in Pittsfield Township on January 11, 1924. Marolyn resided in Wellington from the age of 4 and was a 1941 graduate of Wellington High School. In 1943, Marolyn married her "forever boyfriend" Boyd Cooper and the two were inseparable for their nearly 60 year marriage. They sang together in their church choir and made happy family memories at Findley State Park. Marolyn was employed by Forest City for many years. In retirement, Marolyn and Boyd loved playing golf together at Pheasant Run Golf Course and after Boyd's death, Marolyn enjoyed dining with friends old and new at Dog Tracks Diner. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Wellington. Marolyn cherished her church family and will be greatly missed by many dear friends of all ages. She will be fondly remembered as someone who gave much and was content with the simple things in life. Marolyn's family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care she received from Dr. Alice Denton, Dr. Matt Kaminski, Dr. Y.P. Mok, Dr. Lois Teston and the staff at UH Seidman-Sharon, Hospice of the Western Reserve and The Avenue of Medina, whose compassion made them feel more like family than caregivers. Marolyn is survived by her children, Laurie (Roy) Pressler of Wadsworth and Marcia (Carl) Giordano of Akron; grandchildren, Matthew Giordano of Powell and Jennifer Giordano (Bill Grogan) of Akron; great grandchildren, Marissa, Madeline and Elijah as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and special granddaughter-in-law Mary Harrison Giordano. She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd; her parents, Mary Wyant Perkins and Marrold Pitts; stepfather Richard Perkins; and sister Elizabeth Stentz Barr. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am at First United Methodist Church, Wellington, conducted by Marolyn's dear Pastor Paul Wilson. Graveside service will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 127 Park Place, Wellington, OH 44090. The family also encourages everyone to give the gift of life by donating blood.
