Mary C. Aumend, age 91, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Norwalk Memorial Home after a short illness. She was born July 8, 1916 in Deshler, Ohio, daughter of the late John and Mary Hughes. Mary had lived in the New London and Nova areas for many years before moving to Norwalk 4 years ago. She had worked at the former Newlon Metal Products in New London until it closed, and then she worked at the Wellington Hospital for several years until the hospital closed. She was an avid blood donor to the American Red Cross, having received many acknowledgements for all of the pints of blood she had donated. Mrs. Aumend enjoyed gardening. She is survived by 2 sons, Duane (Donna) Aumend of Norwalk and David (Suzanne) Aumend of New Berlin, Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Aumend in 1978, several brothers and sisters, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Aumend. Friends may call from 5 ' 8 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 am, with Pastor Doug Lang officiating.
