Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Murdock, age 73, of Wakeman, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 30, 2016.
Born January 19, 1943 in Wakeman, to the late Calvert C. Canfield III and Mary Louise (nee Barlow) Canfield, she graduated from high school at Southern Seminary in Virginia and later received her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Baldwin Wallace. Betsy held positions at Norwalk Furniture, several area travel agencies including AAA, the marketing department at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, and also was the director for the Huron County Volunteer Center.
She also served on numerous community volunteer organizations including Friends of the Wakeman Library and Project Leadership. Betsy was a life-long member of the Wakeman Congregation Church where she was active in choir, missions, community outreach, and bible studies.
She will be fondly remembered by her family for her love and determination. Betsy enjoyed knitting and liked to travel with her husband Robert, especially on cruises.
Survivors include her sons, Jeff (Donna) Murdock, Matt (Julie) Murdock and Nathan (Theresa) Murdock all of Wakeman and 4 grandchildren, Collin, Charlotte, Sean and Robert. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, PatCanfield of Wakeman and Cathy (Dennis) Watson of Madison, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Murdock; an infant son, and her brother, Calvert "Cal" Canfield.
The Murdock family will greet friends from 5-8 pm Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Wakeman Congregational Church, 14 Abbott Street, Wakeman where services will be held at 11 am Friday with Pastor Shane McGrath officiating. Burial will follow at Canfield Cemetery, Wakeman.
