Mary Etta Duffield, 93, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2019 at Gaymont Care and Rehabilitation. She was born on July 2, 1925 in Clay County, West Virginia to the late Willis and Mattie (Duffield) McMorrow.
Mary Etta's legacy will be her ability and willingness to serve others. She was a nurse at Fisher Titus Medical Center and the former Norwalk Memorial Home. During WWII she worked in the shipyards in Baltimore. She was an oil painter, wonderful storyteller, avid reader and writer, occasionally submitting editorials to the Norwalk Reflector.
Mary Etta is survived by her children, Doug (Marlene) Duffield and Diane (John) Waite; sister, Joan Nutter; grandchildren, Derek (Sarah) Duffield, Elizabeth (Nick) Hansen, Dylan (Kerry) Waite and Ian and Connor Waite; great grandchildren, Elliana, Miles, Ava, Liam, Landon, Colin, Brennan, Henry and Serenity. She was also beloved by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Elmer Duffield; siblings, Opal Ramsey, Paul McMorrow, Clarence McMorrow, Pearly Alice Nutter, Edna Butler, Hester Graham and Rosalie Miller and grandson, Alex Waite.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 4 pm until the time of the 5 pm memorial service at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home at 98 W Main St, Norwalk, OH 44857. Memorial donations may be directed to Stein Hospice's "Camp Good Grief", 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
