Mary Jane Gannett, age 80, of North Fairfeld, died Sunday, February 8, 2009 at MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield after a two year battle with cancer. She was born October 18, 1928 in Townsend Twp., daughter of the late Clifford and Clara (March) Hartwig. She had lived in North Fairfield since 1948. Mary was a graduate of Townsend High School. She had worked at the Durkee Co., Comet Cleaners both of Norwalk, at Fannie Farmers from the mid 1970's until its closing. She then did home health care for Fisher Titus Medical Center at the New London office. She was a member of the Ripley Church, Greenwich.
She is survived by her son, Norman (Kelly) Gannett of North Fairfield; 6 grandchildren,
Dale (Lisa) Gannett of Kansas, Elizabeth Gannett of Port Clinton, Frank, Robert, Sara and Amy Gannett all of North Fairfield; 4 great grandchildren; her sister, Irene Camp of Norwalk; 7 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Corwin Gannett, her sister, Betty Culley and her brother, Leonard Hartwig.
Friends may call from 6 ' 8 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday with Pastor Bob Hudberg officiating. Burial will follow at North Fairfield Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be given to the American Cancer Society, Northeast Ohio Region, 43099 North Ridge Rd., Elyria, Ohio 44035.
