Obituary

Mary Jane Jackson (nee Twining), a Lafayette Township resident for more than 60 years, passed away Thursday Aug. 1st following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Jackson was born in Spencer, Ohio, in 1924, to Lewis and Lavilla Twining, both deceased. She was a graduate of Wellington High School, and worked for Wright's Jewelry Store in Wellington, until she married Wayne Jackson in 1946. He passed away in 1975. Following her husband's death, she was employed by Crestview Nursing Home, and part-time at Wedgewood Country Club for several years. She was a Medina Community Hospital volunteer for many years and loved her time there, where she served primarily in the same-day surgery unit. She also volunteered in the Home Department at the Medina County Fair for many years, and was active in the Medina County Tractor Pullers' Association until her health began to fail. She was a longtime member of the Lafayette Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Lafayette Fire Department Auxiliary. She volunteered at Red Cross Blood Drives for many years. Mrs. Jackson was a devoted and loving mother all of her life and is survived by her four children, Nancy (Bob) Gunsallus of Atlanta, Georgia; Linda(Keith) Pervier, of Sullivan; Don W. Jackson of Spencer; and Thomas (Dianne) Jackson of Lodi. She also leaves grandchildren Carole (Jeff) Drake, and Mike (Kristin) Gunsallus of Atlanta, Georgia, and Matthew, Leslie, and David Pervier of Sullivan; grandson Craig Pervier preceded her in death. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Madison and Bowen Drake, and Alexis and Leila Gunsallus, all of Atlanta Mrs. Jackson's younger sisters, Ruth (Phil) Rook and Janet Biddinger (the late Otis), of Sullivan, also survive, as well as sisters-in-law Doris and Edith Twining, and numerous nieces and nephews. Five siblings preceded her in death, Russell, Ronald, Richard, and Roy Twining, and Lois Ann VonKamp. The family will welcome relatives, friends, and acquaintances to visiting hours from 10 a.m. until the time of a celebration of life service beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South main Street, Wellington, interment will be in the Huntington cemetery in Huntington Twp. Lorain Co. following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Medina County or the Lafayette Methodist Church.
