Norwalk, Ohio - Mary Jean Craft, 92, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019, while under the care of Hartland Hospice, in the Commons of Providence Care, Memory Unit, Sandusky, Ohio.
She was born January 30, 1927, in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Constance (Faraci) Laface.
Mary retired from ACMI (Olympus) of Norwalk, Ohio, after 36 years of service. Prior to her employment she was a full time homemaker. She loved many activities, and had numerous interests. For years she was involved with the women's bowling league, a member of a league that attended many competitions, and received many trophies and awards. Mary was a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #711 Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener, growing not only vegetables, but beautiful flower beds, which she took great pride in. Mary and her late husband, Seldon, enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, playing cards, and going to casinos. She loved to entertain, and decorated for each holiday making is special. Mary enjoyed playing bingo, horseshoes, and especially loved to bake. She was known for her apple pies, Christmas cookies, and her award winning raisin cookies, that landed her a silver tray. Mary loved her life, and cherished her friends.
She is survived by her children, John R. (Nancy) Widman of Delta, Ohio, Ann M. (Robert) Parker of Norwalk, Ohio, and Karen A. (David) Denman of Toledo, Ohio. Mary is also survived by her brother, Carl (Nancy) Laface of Norwalk, Ohio, by 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Seldon Craft in 2016, by her brothers, Forchie Laface, Jerome Laface, and Floren Laface, by her sisters, Rose Merlo, Carolyn Ernest, and Helen Aubiel, and by her step-son, Kevin Craft.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Friends may also call on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
