Mary Kerner Schild Rogers, 96, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born on February 18, 1928, in Norwalk, to the late George and Ethel (Negel) Kerner. Mary was a graduate of Norwalk St. Paul High School's class of 1946. She was proud that both of her children, Dennis and Mary Beth Schild, and five grandchildren, all graduated from St. Paul's.
Mary loved the sun, the water, and condo, reading Smithsonian, Cleveland Indians (Guardians), Notre Dame, and the Flyers. Her happiest times were spent with family and friends.
She worked for Woolworths, Norwalk Truck Lines, Schild's Tire & Supply, and Schild's IGA for 45 years.
She is survived by her children, Dennis and Karen Schild, Mary Beth Schild, Carl and Ann McGookey, and Earl and Patrick Rogers; grandchildren, Rev. Eric Schild, Brandon and Loren Schild, Ryan and Kate Schild, Katie and Matt Scheerer, Steven (and Kate Patsiavos) Farmer, Bryan and Katie McGookey; great grandchildren, Elsie, Olsen, Leah, Will, Max, Mason, Finn, Eli, and Shea.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen James; daughter, Cynthia Kay; husband, James Schild; and husband, Tom Rogers.
Friends and family are invited to her visitation on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, from 4 pm – 7 pm, concluding with a rosary at 7 pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church, beginning at 10:30 am, with her grandson, Rev. Eric Schild conducting services. Interment will follow in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. The funeral Mass may be livestreamed by visiting the church's website (https://stpaulchurch.org/).
