Mary Patrice Knapp

Mary Patrice Knapp, 60, of Wellington, died Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital. Born on January 27, 1966, in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Mary (nee Rodgers) Scott. Mary’s family moved to Medina when she was a child, and she spent most of her youth there, with the exception of her graduation year, which she spent in Florida, graduating from West Palm Beach.

Mary most recently was working in the bakery at Millers grocery store in Lodi. Prior to that, she worked at Guyer’s grocery store in Wellington. Mary had a love of animals and previously worked at Forever Friends Vet Clinic and at a dog groomer in North Ridgeville. Her love for animals started at a young age when she would volunteer at a horse barn cleaning stalls for a chance to get a ride at the end of the day. As she grew older, she would volunteer with Project Hope, where she helped handicapped children ride horses. The county fairs were a large part of Mary’s life; she enjoyed exhibiting and taking her family, and when she couldn’t go she would stay home to watch the Jersey cows so her family could attend the fair. When her children were young, she started and led Kids and Kritters 4-H group.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Rodney Knapp; sons, Joseph Knapp, Matthew (Sarah) Knapp, and Gregory (Lori) Knapp; granddaughters, Alaina and Maddison; siblings, Melinda Radon, Janice Reep, Jeff Scott, Marion Henry, Cathy Kuehner, Mark Scott, and Amy Scott. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Mary Scott.
