Obituary

Mary 'Evelyn' Hopkins Rhine, age 79 of Greenwich passed away early Thursday, October 14 at her home. She was born May 20, 1931 in West Hamlin, West Virginia. Evelyn lived in Kentucky and West Virginia and moved to Ohio in 1948. She worked at the Shelby Gum Company, Midwest Industries in Willard and Norstat in Plymouth and Norwalk. She helped her husband, Leman with the farm and running AskMe Paving. She was a homemaker and housewife. She is survived by her husband, Richard, children, Belinda (John) Fox; Teresa (David) Osborne; Michael Hopkins all of Greenwich and James (DeeAnn Roberts) Hopkins of Knoxville, TN, stepchildren, David (Debbie) Rhine, Don (Bonnie) Rhine, John (Sheliah) Rhine, Roger (Diana) Rhine all of Greenwich, Bill (Michelle) Rhine of North Fairfield and Penny (Paul) Clemons of Greenwich, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 18 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Frances (Wayman) Musick of Mansfield, Harold (Cozetta) Sargent of Jamestown, Jane (Gene) Dumbaugh of Mt Gilead, Tony Lewis of Milan, Jim (Judy) Lewis of Plymouth, Brenda (Richard) Damron of Martinsville, Sharon (Denny) Roberts of Greenwich and Steve (Judy) Lewis of Willard, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leman A. Hopkins, son, Jesse A. Hopkins, mother, Deffie Lewis, father, Jesse Sargent, stepfather, Winford Lewis, grandson, Aaron Hopkins, step great grandson, Logan Rhine, sisters, Betty Ruth Sargent and Patricia Gail Lewis, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Evelyn was a member of the Home Arts Club in the Greenwich area. She attended the Ripley Church. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and playing Euchre. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Friends and family may call Sunday, October 17 from 2:00'4:00 PM and 6:00'8:00 PM and an hour prior to the funeral service at Ripley Church, 4130 S. Edwards Rd., Greenwich. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 18 at Ripley Church with Pastor David Cobb officiating. Burial will follow at Edwards Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Evelyn's name may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
