Mary Joanne
(Rowland) Paramore
April 24, 1948 – June 6, 2023
Mary Joanne Paramore, 75, of New London, passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland. Born on April 24, 1948, in New London, she was the daughter of the late King B. and Jean (nee Cook) Rowland. She was a 1966 graduate of New London High School and grew up in New London before spending 20 years living in Fairmont, WV.
Mary Jo most recently had been self-employed, cleaning for local businesses and individuals and was a licensed beautician. She was a member of the Auxiliary National Association of Letter Carriers and served as the local and West Virginia state president. Mary Jo was a talented seamstress. She performed alterations for many people and also assisted making ballet costumes. She enjoyed quilting and made blankets for friends and family and carefully selected meaningful patterns for each. Mary Jo was also active with the Triune-Halleck Volunteer Fire women's auxiliary in WV. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church and served as a Girl Scout leader. When she wasn't volunteering her time or working, she enjoyed lunch at McDonalds with her "lunch bunch". Mary Jo will be remembered for her organization and attention to details as well as her commitment to making sure everyone received a card for birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries.
Survivors include her loving husband of 36 years, Marion Paramore; children, Michael, Kendra (Jim) Smith, of New London, Ryan (Anna) Inmon, of Dilliner, PA, Marty (Eileen) Paramore, of Jacksonville, NC, and Mandy (Albert) Osenbaugh, of Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Courtney, Sarah, Autumn, Bryce, Chase, Timothy, Jenna, Michael, Levi, and Amber; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol (Jerry Reagan) Skillicorn and Linda (Mark) Roeder; sisters-in-law, Jonna Rowland and Faline Rowland; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary Jo was preceded in death by her brother Dick Rowland and brother-in-law, Bob Skillicorn.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, June 9, from 4-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, where services will be held on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery. Donations in Mary Jo's memory may be directed to the United Methodist Church, 58 East Main Street, New London, or the American Cancer Society.
