Mary Elizabeth Smith (nee Tudor), 89, died Tuesday, October 09, 2012 at EMH Healthcare in Elyria. She was born on August 25, 1923 in Florence Twp to the late William and Lella (nee Peck) Tudor. Mary was a graduate of Stivers High School and lived most of her life in the Lorain County area.
Mary was a talented seamstress and was published in many craft magazines where she had created doll and other craft patterns. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the El Rey Grado Caldron Society, the Kentucky Colonels, Park Avenue Methodist Church, and was a foster mother for numerous children. Mary respected nature and loved taking care of the animals.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years Herman Harding Smith; daughters Sharon Moehle of Elyria, Patricia Marshall of Columbus, Mary Donna (Carl) Sullenberger of Elyria, Christie (Ray) Overmyer of Pittsburg, Elizabeth (David) Vonmeyer of Elyria, Sons H. John (Becky) Smith of Elyria, Douglas (Teresa) Smith of LaGrange, and Michael Smith of Elyria; seventeen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Mary was preceded in death by her six sibling, a grandson, and a son-in-law Todd Moehle.
Services will be held on Friday, October 19, at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main, Wellington beginning at 11a.m., burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Condolences may be given online at: www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
