Obituary

Mary Florence Taylor, 92, of Wellington, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Elm's Retirement Village. She was born January 2, 1918 in Gates Mills, OH to Theadore Henry and Ruth Sink McKay Haberecht. Mary was the youngest of five with three brothers, Edgar, Ted and Carl and her sister, Ruth Helen. Her father had a store in Gates Mills where Mary spent her childhood before moving to a farm in Westfield Center, OH where she graduated high school in 1936. She met her husband to be Willys Wright Taylor, who had a milk route and picked up their dairy milk from their farm. Willys and Mary were married on September 27, 1941 in Medina. Willys 'Slim' and Mary were blessed with one son, Richard Taylor born September 1, 1956 and passed away on November 15, 1981, at age 25. Slim and Mary were married sixty years until Slim's passing on February 1, 2002. In 1944 Mary and Willys 'Slim' moved along with his parents to a farm they purchased in Penfield. Mary lived on the farm until recent years when she moved to the Elm's Retirement Village assisted living in Wellington. Mary was active with the Penfield Women's Club and attended Penfield Community Church. Her other interests were family, farm and counted cross stitch and sewing. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9 at the Penfield Cemetery with Mike Smith officiating.
