Maxine Ellen Simonson, 89, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 in Wellington after a lengthy illness. The daughter of the late Earl B. and Lula (nee Hall) Jameyson, Maxine was born on September 25, 1920 in Wellington and remained a lifelong resident of the village. She graduated with the Wellington High School Class of 1940.
Maxine was the Supply/Facilities Coordinator for the Wellington Eagles Arie 2051 for 30 years and was a member of the Ohio Eastern Star. She had a passion for helping children and donated her time to several organizations; Maxine was the Wellington Cloverettes 4-H Club Advisor for 55 years. In addition, she also helped with the Rainbow Girls and Cub Scouts.
Maxine loved the Lorain County Fair and served on the Junior Fair Board. She enjoyed making ceramics; her claim to fame was ceramic Christmas Trees.
She leaves behind her husband, Cloyd 'Bill' Simonson of 68 years; four children, Ronald (Bert) Simonson of Wellington, Pam (Doug) Wilgor of Wellington, Dennis (Carmela) Simonson of Arlington, VA, Wayne Simonson of Wellington; and grandchildren, Scott, Sara, Stephanie and Stephen. Maxine is also survived by her brothers, Lyle, Howard and Donald Jameyson, all of Wellington. She was preceded in death by her brother, Russell and sister, Ruth.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 9th from 12 p.m. until the 1 p.m. Funeral Service at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington with Rev. Lea Mahan officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maxine can be given to the Lorain County 4-H Endowment, 42110 Russia Road, Elyria, OH 44035 or to the Alzheimer's Association, Cleveland Area Chapter, P.O.
