Melba P. Waite, 95, of Wellington passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange. Born in Spencer on August 6, 1921 to the late Roy and Edith (nee Packard) Handley, She moved to the Wellington area at the age of 4. Melba was a 1939 graduate of Wellington High School. In 1940 on March 24, Easter Sunday, Melba married Robert Waite. The Rev. Longo Green of the Methodist Church officiated. Melba was a member of the Mary E. Knapp Circle of the Kings Daughters, The Rebecca Lodge, and the Seymore Club in Pittsfield. Survivors include her son, Russell Waite, of Phoenix AZ; daughter-in-law, Marie Waite, of Pittsfield; 2 grandchildren, Cathy Waite of Elyria and Doug (Tracey) Waite of Pittsfield; and one great grandson, William. Melba was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 2008 and her son, Gareld, in 2014. Friends will be received on Sunday, November 13, from 2p.m. until the time of services beginning at 5 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Interment will take place on Monday at 11 a.m. at Pittsfield South Cemetery.
