Melva Anderson, 86, of New London, Ohio, passed away on August 26, 2022, at The Inn at Ashland Woods, in Ashland, Ohio.  She was born on August 27, 1935, in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Nora (Stumbo) and Azzie Hall and moved to Ohio as a young teenager.

Melva was a fiercely independent woman who was dedicated to her family.  A wonderful and loving mother, she enjoyed shopping, decorating, crafting, wall papering, gardening, and outside work.   As the last surviving member of 9 children, Melva often assumed the role of caregiver to many of those who passed before her.

In addition to helping raise her own family, Melva sold Avon for 17 years and hung wallpaper for many years.

Survivors include her children, Steve Anderson, Valerie (John) Chapin, Lisa (Willie) Urich and Michael Anderson; 9 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elden in 2005 and siblings, Inez, Ivellea, Irene, Clyde, Mag, Betty, R.J., and Loretta, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Melva's wishes, there will be no public service. She will be laid to rest with her husband Elden at Ashland County Memorial Park, Ashland, Ohio.
