Melvin Lee Caswell, 67, of Wellington, died Monday, February 21, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain. Born in Oberlin on September 28, 1943 to the late Charles and Sarah Marie (nee Smith) Caswell, Melvin lived all of his life in the Wellington and Brighton areas.
Melvin worked driving truck for over 30 years. He loved to drive race cars at the Lorain County Speedway, hunting with his Beagle dogs and was an enthusiastic Browns fan. Melvin also enjoyed collecting model cars and playing cards. He was a member of the Wellington VFW.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 47 years, Barbara; children, Lisa A. Hunter, of Wellington, Steven Caswell, of Wellington, Tammy (Tony) Ehman, of Lorain, and Christine Caswell, of Wellington; grandchildren, Daniel Hunter, Steven Caswell, Jr., Melissa Ehman, Nicole Ehman and John Ehman and two great grandchildren, Kahleb and Dylon. Melvin is also survived by his brother, Ronald Caswell, of Brighton; aunt, Mona Staszak and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Thursday, February 24, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main, Wellington. A private family burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
