Meta E. Tenteris, 96, of Norwalk, passed away on January 12, 2023, after a brief illness.

Meta was born on February 27, 1926, in Heldburg, Germany to Otto and Frieda Schubert.

In 1951, she and her husband, Gunars immigrated to the United States processing though Ellis Island, New York. They were sponsored by a Lutheran church and settled in Yankton, S.D. before moving to Custer, where she worked as a nurse's aide in the state sanatorium. The couple moved to the Collins area in 1954, where she was a member of the Collins Farm Women's Club. Meta was employed by the former Nortstat Company for several years in Norwalk. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Meta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gunars in 2017; brother, Eric Schubert, and sister Lina Jandt, both of Germany. She is survived by her son and daughters, Raymond and Jean Tenteris of Grafton, Sylvia and Dennis Miller of Clarksfield, Ramona and James Thill of Monroeville, and Susan and Gary Jackson of Norwalk. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am, Monday, January 16, 2023, with a service to follow at 11 am at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857. The Reverend Ann Marshall will preside. Burial will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk. Walker Eastman Heydinger Funeral home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
