Obituary

Norwalk, Ohio - Michael David McKinnon Sr., 74, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in his home surrounded in love by his family. He was born August 6, 1941 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Michael F. McKinnon and Elsie (Raab) McKinnon and was a lifelong area resident. David was a veteran of the 101st Airborne division of the U.S. Army Paratroopers. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Milan, Ohio. He was the founder and owner of Associated Steel Erectors and Sheeters from 1979 until his retirement in 2003. David was a Lifetime member of Iron Workers local #17 of Cleveland, Ohio, and was a former employee of Harrison Manufacturing as well as Paul Hale Steel Erectors both of Birmingham, Ohio. He was a certified welder, ironworker and giving man who enjoyed helping his family, friends and neighbors with any type of project. David was that friend you could go to when you needed help of any kind. He enjoyed gardening, sports and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He cherished his wife Janice and the 55 years they were married. David was a third degree member of Knights of Columbus Chapter 626, Eagles Aerie #711, Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion, Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, V.F.W. Dads, and the Norwalk Bronson Conservation Club. He is survived by his wife, Janice I. (Smith) McKinnon of Norwalk, Ohio, and by his daughter, Lori A. (Tim) Keegan of Bellevue, Ohio. David is also survived by his four grandchildren, Tyler (Sarah) McKinnon of Norwalk, Ohio, Timothy Keegan Jr. and Danielle Taszreak, of Tallmadge, Ohio, Trevor McKinnon of the U.S. Air Force, and Karlee Keegan and Brian Wettrich of Clyde, Ohio, by his great grandchildren, Blake Michael, Cole Lewis, Amelia Joann, Gianna Novelene, Adysen Grace, by his sister, Judy (Ron) Schoenegee of Naples, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael David McKinnon, Jr. in 2009, his parents, Michael and Elsie McKinnon, his brothers, Milton and Roger McKinnon, and by his sisters, Joan Charville, and Phyllis Sanders. David was a positive, determined man who touched many lives and always found the good in every situation. Friends may call on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, with a rosary service to follow calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 10:30 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, 145 Center Street, Milan, Ohio. Rev. Anthony Recker will officiate.
