Muriel Louise McClaflin, 92, of Wellington died on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. Born on July 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Nellie (nee Young) and Roy Baker. She was a 1947 Brighton High School graduate, grew up in Rochester, moved to Bradenton, FL in 1973 and returned to Wellington in 1995.
Muriel previously worked at C.E. Ward Co. in New London before moving to Florida. In Florida she was employed at the Days Inn, Bradenton and Teleflex in Sarasota. In her younger days she enjoyed the square dances at Brighton, gardening and bowling with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and visiting the many Air Force bases where her children were stationed. She also loved sewing and crocheting, especially making afghans for her children and grandchildren. Her pride and joy was her family. Being a grandma and GiGi were the most rewarding titles of all. She was tenacious, loving and caring and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to treasure her memory are her children, Janice McClaflin of Wellington, Karen (Steve) Thornhill of Schertz, Texas, Jackie Simmons and Larry (Theresia) McClaflin, of Bradenton, Florida, and Susan (Ken) Guthrie of Litchfield; 13 grandchildren; 17-1/2 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Marvel Storrow, and Ronald Baker.
