Nena Mary Smith passed away peacefully at home on May 11th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 27th, 1953, in Cumberland, Maryland to John T. Holtz and Jean A. Holtz.

She was a graduate of Norwalk High School class of 1972. On May 5th, 1973, Nena married the love of her life, Frederick Smith beginning a beautiful journey of partnership and devotion spanning more than five decades. Following marriage, Nena went on to be a stay-at-home mother to her three children. She worked part time at the Norwalk Clinic as a receptionist and finished out her working career at Freudenberg in Milan, Ohio.

During her life, Nena found joy in the simple pleasures of life such as sharing laughter and time with her beloved husband, children, and friends. Above all, her greatest treasure in life were moments with her two grandchildren.

Nena is survived by her devoted husband, Frederick Smith of 52 years. Her children, Adam (Shannon) Smith, Patrick (Lauren) Smith, Maura (Tom) Wechter, her cherished grandchildren, Ethan and Reese Smith, brothers, Max Holtz, Mark Holtz, Dan (Kathy) Holtz, all of Norwalk, sister, Marlene (Doug) Duffield of Monroeville, and Deborah (Thomas) Ranney of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jean Holtz; and her brother, John T Holtz.

Per Nena's wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, any donations could be made to the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center Judith and Richard Kinzel Campus, 417 Quarry Lakes Dr, Sandusky, OH 44870.
