Obituary

Nicholas Benjamin Holtz, 72, of Norwalk, died Saturday, May 11, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 4, 1947 in Mt. Savage MD, he was the son of the late George Holtz and Blanche (nee Maust) Gallegos. Nick moved to Norwalk from Pittsburgh at a young age and attended Norwalk High School.

Nick was a painter by trade and started his own business, Holtz Painting, in the early 90's. He was a proud member of the Huron Co. Men's Pool League where he was captain for the Milan Wonder Bar team. He enjoyed golf league at Sycamore Hills, both men's and couples with his wife. He enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee with his friends and family. Nick was an avid sports fan, rooting on the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Indians, and The Ohio State Buckeyes, and always looked forward to the Super Bowl parties with his friends. He truly loved attending his kids and grandkids sporting events and would never miss a game. Nick liked to travel, going camping and fishing with family or taking a leisurely road trip with his wife Debi into the mountains. A road trip would be made even more complete if it involved a stop at a casino. Most of all Nick cherished time with his kids, grandkids and his beloved wife.

Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Debi (nee Winchester); his daughter Stacey Oakley and Jen Swartz, and children Leah and Brayson Malson; his son Eric Oakley and his family, spouse Mandy and their children Jack, Sawyer, Collins, and Drew; Siblings Pam (Jim) Meyer, of Massillon, Mike (Dolly) Holtz, of Strongsville, and George Holtz, of Thomasville NC; numerous nieces and nephews; and his oldest and dearest friend Roger Crisp. In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in by his infant brother George Stephen Holtz.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, May 15, from 3 p.m. until the time of services beginning at 6 p.m. at Walker Eastman Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main, Norwalk. Rev. Brian Oglesbee will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, 44870.
