Mrs. Norma Jean (Proctor) Ash, 73, of New London, was called home to be with the Lord February, 14, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. Born on November 9, 1938 in Cedar Grove, West Virginia, daughter of the late Harry and Irene (Butterworth) Proctor.
She was a member at the Freedom Christian Fellowship Church in Norwalk. Norma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and especially cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed working jig saw puzzles, painting by numbers, crocheting, shopping at Wal-Mart, sitting in her swing listening to her wind chimes and watching the birds. Norma was an avid fan of the Cleveland Brown, Indians and Cavilers. Her greatest joy was attending her grandchildren's events.
Survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Lloyd P. Ash; daughters, Deborah Ash of Pennsylvania and Carol D. Ash of Shelby; son and daughter-in-law, David A. and Mary Christine (Dutton) Ash of Wakeman; granddaughters, Justine M. Ash and Olivia D. Ash both of Wakeman; grandson, Nathaniel D. Ash of Wakeman; siblings, Calvin Proctor of Cleveland, Phyllis Thacker of Michigan, Ruth Ash of Michigan, Brenda Payne of West Virginia, Herbert Wayne Proctor of Vermilion and Sheena (Totten) Proctor of West Virginia; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Norma was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Lilly and Clyde Christie; brothers, Grover and Gordon Proctor; brother-in-law, John L. Payne; nieces, Michelle L. Thacker and Sharon Merida; nephews, Melvin R. Christie, Jonathon Lanham and Trey Proctor; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 16th from 6-9 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Freedom Christian Fellowship Church, 4935 Ohio 601, Norwalk with Pastor Roy Harless officiating. Private burial will take place at Grove Street Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be given the Freedom Christian Fellowship Church.
