Norma Jean Chester, 81, of Wellington died November 29, 2008 at Rae Ann Suburban Nursing Home in West Lake. Born in Cambridge on March 3, 1927 to the late Othel 'Jack' and Gladys (nee Henderson) Heskett, Norma was a graduate of Byesville High School. She worked at the RCA and NCR factories in Cambridge before moving to Wellington in 1970. Norma was the owner and operator of the Hillcrest Hotel in Wellington for several years.
Norma was active with the Wellington Senior Citizen's group and was a dispatcher for the senior bus. She enjoyed fishing and liked working in her flower bed, especially her rose garden. Family meant everything to Norma and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Richard (Jackie) Chester of Sheffield Village; her daughter, Pamela (Doug) Foreman of Wellington; two daughter-in-laws, Donna Chester of Old Washington and Robin Chester of Penfield; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Norma is also survived by her siblings, William R. (Glenna) Heskett of Zanesville and Patricia Milner of Delaware and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Chester, Jr. and her sons, Ronald D. and Thomas A. Chester.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, December 1 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
