Norman D."Pete" Kinter Sr., 68, of Elyria, passed away on February 14, 2014. He was born on November 16, 1945 in Huntington Township to the late Marietta (nee Youngless) and Frances "Sabe" Kinter. Pete grew up in Nova and Wellington and was a graduate of Mapleton High School.
While serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, Pete received the Purple Heart. He later retired from ALCO Manufacturing. Pete was a member of AMVETS Post 32 in Elyria and also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. His grandchildren were very important to him and he loved spending time with them.
Pete is survived by his children, Michael (Pam) Kinter of Elyria and Norman D. (Laura) Kinter Jr. of Sheffield Lake; grandchildren, Amber, Kevin, Conner, Nathan, Noah and Luke Kinter; good friend and former wife, Judy (nee Hale) Kinter; and siblings, Shirley Ferber, Lois Drushell, Mary Jo Pay and John David Kinter. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Iva Marie, Patsy Mae, Frances Jr., Loren Edward and Sally Marie.
