Obituary

Opal Gordanier Gammalo, 94, of Wellington, peacefully passed on September 16, 2009. Born in Iola, Kansas on September 29, 1915, Opal moved to Ohio in 1935 where she met and married her devoted husband of 51 years, James Gammalo, Sr. She lived most of her married years in Olmsted Falls. Opal was a homemaker and hobbyist who loved to sew, quilt, knit, crochet and paint. She and her husband were avid square dancers for many years. She was the cherished mother and mother-in-law to Charleen (Tim) Wilks, James (Beverly) Gammalo, Jr., Manley Gammalo, Ivahlee (Bruce) Squires; loving grandmother to Scott (Shelly) Cull, Kelly Cull, Cary (Lisa) Gammalo, Laura Bagley, Amy (Andy) Plantaz, Daniel Gammalo, Ian Gammalo, Shanti Gammalo, Brian Gammalo, Shawn (Kelly) Cheshier, Melanie (T.J. May) Cheshier, and Olivia Opal Cheshier; and the sweetest great grandma of 16. Opal was preceded in death by her husband, James Gammalo, Sr.; son, Manley Gammalo; siblings, Joe Gordanier, Archie Gordanier, Ivahlee Zimmerman and other beloved family members, Shanti Gammalo, Tim Wilks and Brad Squires, USMC. A private graveside service will be held at Grove Street Cemetery, New London.
