Norwalk, Ohio - P. Michael Cooperrider, 59, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 in University Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio. He was born August 27, 1958 in Lancaster, Ohio, and lived in this area most of his life. Mike was a 1977 graduate of Norwalk High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Wiesbaden, Germany. He was a former employee of JOPA Petroleum and Propane of Greenwich, Ohio, Norwalk City Schools, and I.A.C. Inc. of Huron, Ohio. Mike was a member, past deacon and elder, of the First Presbyterian Church, Norwalk, Ohio. He was also a member of A.A., enjoyed vacationing at Disney World with his family, was always a helping hand to a friend or neighbor, and was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. Mike is survived by his wife of 30 years, Christina D. (Benz) Cooperrider of Norwalk, Ohio, by his son, Ryan M. Cooperrider of Norwalk, Ohio, by his daughter, Katie S. Cooperrider of Lakewood, Ohio, and by his mother, Jo Ann (Hayes) Cooperrider of Huron, Ohio. He is also survived by his brother and sister in law, Mark and Lynn Cooperrider of Highland Heights, Ohio, by his mother and father in law, Wilhelm and Margot Benz, by his brothers and sisters in law, Richard and Gwen Benz, and Michael and Edie Benz, by his nieces and nephews, Nicole, Stephen, Christopher, Nicholas, and Michelle, and by his great nephews, Damian, and Dominic. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Paul E. Cooperrider in 1999. Friends may call on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. David Comstock will officiate. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
