Patricia Jeanne Lindley, 62, of Wellington, died Saturday, September 11, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born September 10, 1948, in South Bend, Indiana, Pat was the daughter of the late Mack O. and Mabel (Douglass) Lindley.
Pat earned her B.A. in French and Master of Library Science degrees from Indiana University and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 1969. In 1974 she moved to Wellington, where she served as director of the Herrick Memorial Library for 27 years.
Pat married William Brumfield on April 10, 1999. She was a founding member and longtime board member of Main Street Wellington. Pat was also a member of the First Congregational Church, where she participated in the sanctuary and hand bell choirs and served on the church council.
She served on the board of the Community Foundation of Lorain County and chaired its grants committee for several years. Besides her community service interests, her interests included music, books, gardening, theatre, and travel.
She is survived by her husband; a brother, Jerry Lindley of South Bend, Indiana; two stepchildren, two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Pat was Preceded in death by her brother, Mack Douglas Lindley.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, September 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Wellington First Congregational United Church of Christ, 140 S. Main St. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church with Rev. Brian Burke and Rev. Lea Mahan officiating. A private burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
