Patricia L.
Wetzel
April 16, 1937 – December 13, 2020
Patricia (Pat) L. Wetzel, 83, was born April 16, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2020.
Pat grew up in Norwalk, Ohio, where she graduated from Norwalk High School in 1955 and met her husband, Richard A. Wetzel. She received her undergraduate and master's degree in education from Bowling Green State University and worked as an elementary school teacher in the Norwalk City School System for over 20 years. She was passionate about education, took great pleasure in her work and had a passion for teaching and working with children.
She was also a loving, encouraging, and kind wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. In her free time, Pat enjoyed gardening and spending time with loved ones. She often went on long walks, solved crossword puzzles, and read books. Christmas was one of her favorite times of year when she would invite her children and grandchildren to bake and decorate an assortment of cookies. Pat was also an active member in the First United Methodist Church where she often donated her time and talents. There she enjoyed singing in the choir, working with the children, and helping with their many ministries.
Pat is survived by her children, Kevin (Julie) Wetzel and Debbie (Charlie) Lasky; grandchildren, Ryan (Ashley) Wetzel, Heather (Tyler) McDaniel, Jason Wetzel, Katie (Kyle) Buxman, and Alyssa Lasky; step-grandchildren, Erin (Shawn) Banks, Brian Waggoner, and Laura (Ryan) Kildow; great-grandchildren, Breelyn, Evelyn, Haidyn, Caleb, Grace, Koralie, Elyse, and another one on the way; and siblings, Janet Meinert and John Cross.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Richard Wetzel; and parents, Cleo and John Cross.
The family will not hold public services, but they encourage friends to honor and remember Pat in their own way. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association, 225 N.
