Eastman Funeral Home 419.929.3781 Patricia Ellen Young, 78, of Nova, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2018 at the Laurels of New London. Patricia was born on September 24, 1940 in Wadsworth, Ohio to the late Dare Mougey and Leona Marie (nee Madigan) McConnell. Most of her schooling was through Ruggles/Troy but Pat went to Florida for a year and graduated from Sarasota High School in 1958. Pat was the backbone of her family. Although she suffered from a disease that affected her memory she had an extraordinary ability to remember family birthdays and important dates. She would always remember to send a card to commemorate such events, and never missed out on a family party. Pat enjoyed bowling, crocheting and sewing and had made quilts for everyone. She loved the Cleveland Indians and her family, children and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered and forever missed for her thoughtfulness and caring and selfless nature. Her Catholic faith was very important to her and Pat had attended church at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Nova when she was able and she and her late husband Paul David Young had renewed their wedding vows at the church. Patricia is survived by her children, Paul David II (Ann) Young of Nova, Jere Dare (Tracy) Young of Virginia, Patricia Ellen (Kevin) Shays of New London; grandchildren, Jeremiah David, Joshua Tyler, Paul David III, Matthew Scott, Sara Ann and Benjamin Troy Young, Dylan Mitchell, Lukas Maxwell and Payton Skyler Shays; siblings, Richard, Donald and James; great grandchildren, Ryan, Sadie, Emma, Addison and Maci. She is also survived by several sister in-laws including her close friend Betty Young. In addition to her parents and late husband, Patricia was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Lou, Margaret, Dare and Robert. A visitation will be held at Eastman Funeral Home, New London from 5-7 pm on Friday, December 14, 2018 where a rosary will be held at 4:45 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New London at 10:30 am with Father Kishore Kattana officiating. Burial will follow the mass in Ashland County Memorial Park.
