Paul Edward Kohl Jr., 92, of New London, died Saturday November 25, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Home in Ashland. Born on August 31, 1925 in Elyria, he was the son of the late Paul Kohl Sr. and Mary (nee Harrison) Kohl.
Paul was a World War II veteran, having served in the 722nd Railway Operating Battalion in Europe.
He worked as a Railroad Engineer with New York Central and later Conrail. Paul was an active and devoted member of St. Mary's Church in Elyria and later of Our Lady of Lourdes in New London. He will be remembered as a family man, a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his daughters, Mary (Bill) Hansford of New London and Barbara (Jerry) Daggett of Elyria; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 4 step grandchildren; 9 step great-grandchildren and brother, Robert (Julita) Kohl. Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Lois; sisters, Agnes Marie Kohl and Jean Salrin; and his brother, Regis Kohl.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, November 30, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, beginning at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church,18 Park Ave, New London, Fr Kishore will officiate and burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, New London. Donations in Paul's memory may be directed to Our Lady of Lourdes church.
