Bellevue, Ohio - Paul H. Smith 69, of Bellevue, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 in Promedica Fremont Hospital. He was born January 10, 1949 in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Claude H. and Edna M. (Hager) Smith, and was a lifelong area resident. Paul graduated from St. Paul High School in 1967. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Paul twice crossed the equator while in the Navy and was a "Shellback" recipient. He was a member of the V.F.W. of Bellevue, Ohio. Paul was a former employee of Heitsche Trucking Company, and A.J. Riley Inc. He worked for 30 years as an equipment operator at Hanson Quarry. Paul enjoyed fishing, boating, Island life, was an animal lover, and shooting pool one handed. He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Deborah Santoro of Bellevue, Ohio, by his son, Paul H. Smith, Jr., by his step sons, Zachary Santoro of Bellevue, Ohio, and Nicholas Santoro of Bellevue, Ohio. Paul is also survived by his siblings, Kurt J. (Linda) Smith of North Fairfield, Ohio, Karlan A. Daniel of Norwalk, Ohio, Mark J. Smith of Norwalk, Ohio, and Scot P. (Kelly) Smith of Norwalk, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step son, Bradley Santoro, Jr. in 2016. There will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held in St. Paul Cemetery.
