Paul D. Young, 73, of Nova, died Friday, November 8, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 13, 1940 in Sandusky to the late Ransom and Elizabeth (nee Haynes) Young. Paul was a 1958 graduate of Ruggles Troy High School and a life long resident of the area.
Paul was a Master Carpenter and owned and operated Young's Floor Coverings in New London for many years. He was a skilled builder and built and remodeled many homes in the area. Paul also enjoyed bowling, reading and watching westerns, but most of all he cherished his children and grandchildren and loved to watch and support them in all of their activities.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia; his children Paul David (Ann) Young II of Nova, Jere (Tracy) Young of Monroe VA, and Patti (Kevin) Shays of New London; grandchildren Jeremiah, Joshua, Paul David III, Matthew, Ben and Sara Young and Dylan, Luke, and Payton Shays, and a great granddaughter Addyson Young. He is also survived by his siblings, Ruth Sherman, Sally Shonkwiler and Jere Young. He was preceded in death by his sisters Helen Loy, Betty Jane Vazquez, Juanita Young, Thelma Thomas, and brothers Wilbur, Vernie, Clarence, Ed, Chuck, George, Kenneth, and Silas Young.
A graveside service will be held at Ashland County Memorial Park, 1058 US Route 250, Ashland on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 3 p.m. with Fr. Ron Bryda officiating. Donations in Paul's memory may be directed to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, 44870.
