Obituary

Pauline B. (nee Lorence) Irish, age 89, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin. Pauline was born on March 17, 1918 in Wellington to the late Frederick and Bertha (nee Wagner) Lorence and was a lifelong resident of Wellington, where she graduated with the class of 1936. Pauline retired from the Wellington School system where she worked in the cafeteria. Mrs. Irish was a 50-year member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wellington and was actively involved in the church. Most recently, she was a member of Faith Christian Church in Wellington. She belonged to the Sullivan Chapter of the Eastern Star for 65 years and held many offices. She was a Cub Scout leader, and at one time belonged to the Kings Daughters, the Town and Country Club, and the Rebecca Lodge. Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn (Varnie) Hunter of Wellington, Robert (Shirley) Irish of Attica, Richard (Amy) Irish of Wellington; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Mrs. Irish was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd in 1976 and a grandchild. Friends may call from 5-9 pm on Friday, January 11 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington and Eastern Star services will be held at 8:30 pm. Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery in Wellington. Memorial donations may be made to Welcome Nursing Home, 417 S. Main St., Oberlin, OH 44074.
