Pauline J. Richards O'Connor, 96, passed on to the arms of The Lord on April 5, 2024, with her daughter Ellen Wiles and son Roger Doerfler at her side. Pauline was born in Willard, Ohio on April 17, 1927. She was the daughter of Virgil A. Richards and Marie (Miller) Richards.
She was preceded in death by son John V. Doerfler, sister Helen Richards Bertram, brothers John, Donald, and Roger Richards.
Growing up in Willard and graduating from St. Paul's H.S. in Norwalk in 1945, she was known by all her friends as Polly. Polly always spoke fondly of her youth growing up in Willard and Norwalk. She was always known for her welcoming and friendly attitude and positive outlook on life.
After raising her family in Columbus, Ohio, Polly moved to Sarasota, FL in 1980. Polly married George O'Connor of Hampton, L.I., NY 3/2/94. She was preceded in death by husband George on 11/13/08. Polly also leaves behind her stepchildren, Barbara O'Connor, George O'Connor Jr, Mike O'Connor and Jean LaVita. In addition, she leaves behind granddaughters Heather Dudick, Sonya Lawman and Kimberly Doerfler, grandsons Roger, Tim, and Nathan Doerfler, great grandchildren, Sage Dudick, Kyle Doerfler, Miquelle Hartman and Ethan Seifert.
Polly also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews in the Richards and Bertram lineage as well as her cousins Connie, Susan, and Sally Richards. She will be greatly missed by long-time family and friends. For several years in later life, she and daughter Ellen would spend their summers in a trailer park in Huron where she would share happy times with her brother Donald and dear sister in-law Jean Richards of Huron.
A graveside celebration of life will be held this Summer on a date to be announced later. The family would like to thank Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home and Franklin Monument Co.
