Percy A. Claycomb

Percy A. Claycomb, 85, died under hospice care at Wesleyan Village on Friday, September 18, 2026. The eldest son of the late Jesse James and Mary Louise (nee Benton) Claycomb, Percy was born on October 24, 1940, in Imler, Pennsylvania.

A proud veteran, Percy served his country from 1958 until 1962 as a US Air Force Airman First Class. Following his military service, Percy worked as a terminal and warehouse manager for truck transportation. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and attended Community UMC in Virginia for many years. Percy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, bicycling, running, and hiking. He was also an exercise enthusiast, a certified Master Gardener, and a frequent traveler.

Percy is survived by his daughter, Ann (Claycomb) Runion, her husband, John Runion, and their children, Elena and Luke Runion; son, Craig Claycomb, his wife, Laurie (Zarzour) Claycomb, and their children, Matthew Claycomb and Olivia Nemec, fiancée, Mark Claycomb, and Julie (Claycomb) and Michael Lockwood; siblings, Janet Wray, Sally Barbour, Alan (Tina) Claycomb, and Angela (Rev. Charles) Baughman. Percy was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Ellen (nee Diehl) Claycomb; brothers-in-law, Robert C. “Pete” Wray, and Robert O. Barbour; and sister-in-law, Candace “Candy” (Burket) Claycomb.

A Memorial Services will be held on October 24, 2026, at 10:00 am at Lakemont United Methodist Church, Altoona, PA, with Rev. Charles Baughman officiating.
