Philip M. Bursley, 94, of New London, died Friday, December 11, 2020 in Sandusky, under the care of Stein Hospice. Born on July 27, 1926, in Elyria, he was the son of the late Dennis Sr. and Pearl (nee Johnson) Bursley. Philip was a lifelong resident of Clarksfield and a 1944 graduate of New London High School.
Philip raised and milked registered Holstein cattle on his farm in Clarksfield and was active with various Holstein associations. Faith was a primary component of Philips life and he was an active member of New London First Baptist Church. Philip was very athletic and enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and even took karate classes as an older adult. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and cutting wood to sell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, LaRue (nee Radcliffe) Bursley; children Paul (Sheila) Bursley, of Clarksfield, and Patti (Mike) Fenwick, of Ashland; granddaughters Melissa Burtscher, Andrea (Dan) Lukas, Amelia Fenwick, and Bailey Bursley; great grandchildren, Zeff, Tori, Gavin, Addi, Kaleb, Elli, and Mackenna. Philip was preceded in death by his siblings Irvin, Dennis Jr, Addi, Edna, Minnie, and Mary.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, December 17, from 12p.m. until the time of services beginning at 2 p.m. at New London First Baptist Church, 432 Park Ave, New London, 44851, with Pastor Jerry Shirley officiating. Burial will follow at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery. All attending are asked to follow social distancing guidelines and to wear a mask.
