Phyllis Stevens made her home in the Fitchville and Hartland Township (Norwalk, OH) area for most of her life. She was a farm wife and she and her husband Harold were pillars in the local community and known as "Grandma" to many Hartland residents and friends. Phyllis was a member of the Fitchville Grange, Hartland Center Community Church and Farm Women's Club. She was known for her cooking and cherished having tea parties with her grandchildren. Phyllis took great pride in cleaning and made sure all of her guests were well fed. Phyllis passed away Thursday morning January 29, 2015 in Twilight Gardens Nursing Home in Norwalk, she was 86. Born April 24, 1928 in New London to Homer and Cora Huestis. Phyllis married the love of her life, Harold M. Stevens, they shared 68 wonderful years together. She is survived by her devoted son, Doyle (Marlene) Stevens of Collins; grandsons, David (Anel) Stevens of New London and Daniel (Nicole) Stevens of Norwalk; great grandchildren, Emily, Thatcher, Walker, Tate Daniel and David Harold; brother, Harlan (Joyce) Huestis of New London and brother-in-laws, Donald Stevens of Archbold, OH and Wesley (Betty) Stevens of Umatilla, FL. Including her husband in October 2013, and parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Allen. Phyllis' family will receive friends Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 2-6 pm at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London where a service will be held 1 pm Monday with Pastor Jon Johnson officiating. Burial to follow in Hartland Ridge Cemetery, Collins.
