Obituary

Phyllis Jean Weibel passed on from this realm to rest eternally in the arms of her Savior. She was married to her college sweetheart Herman R. Weibel for 58 years. She was in the first graduating class of Lima Senior High School and attended Ohio Northern University. She was the mother of Christopher Scott Weibel who preceded her in death. Surviving sons are Curtis Paul Weibel of Lyons, Colorado, Eric Matthew Weibel of Dayton, Ohio, Jonathan James Weibel of State College, Pennsylvania, and Seth Thomas Weibel of Shiloh, Ohio. She loved her daughter-in-laws like daughters and also she enjoyed keeping track of her twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren's activities. Her parents were Doyt and Mabel (Gruber) Shaffer who passed away in 1984 and 1985. She was the youngest of three children, James E. Shaffer of Boise, Idaho, and Mary L. Sanders of Warminster, Pennsylvania. She was most recently a member of Bethel Baptist Church but she had been active in several Baptist Churches in southern Ohio where they had previously lived. The family owned the R&R Drug Store in Bellevue, Ohio for nineteen years. Phyllis also was the Director of the South Shore Lung Association and actively started the first free camp for Asthmatic children in the state of Ohio plus designing a ten part Stop Smoking Video Program using local residents and talents for filming. In later years she enjoyed exploring the art of writing family stories, and formed an active Women's Writing Group in Waverly, Ohio. Her final time was spent in a Dawdi House (Grandparent's Home) adjoined to her youngest sons's home north of Ashland, Ohio. She was most proud of her sons being good husbands and fathers and their devotion to serving the Lord. A memorial service of remembrance will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 3 pm at Bethel Baptist Church, 575 US Route 250, Savannah, OH 44874, with Pastor John Bouquet officiating. Memorial donations may be made to MAP (Mission to Amish People), 575 US Highway 250, PO Box 128, Savannah, OH 44874.
