Ralph Dean Leiby, 80, of Wellington, passed away in his sleep on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Keystone Pointe. Ralph was born in Wellington on June 30, 1934 to the late Ralph O. and Clara (nee Sprague) Leiby. He was raised in Spencer, attended Spencer Schools and lived his entire adult life in Wellington. A machinist by trade, Ralph retired from Ridge Tool after 29 years and spent 30 years working with the Southern Lorain County Ambulance District. He was also an auxiliary Wellington Police Officer many years ago. In his younger years he worked for the Couch-Uthe Company and at Cleveland Steel Products on Magyar Street. Ralph greatly enjoyed mowing yards for people in town. He was a member of Wellington Lodge #127 F. & A.M., Wellington F.O.E. #2051 and the First United Congregational Church of Wellington. Ralph is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara (nee Warren) Leiby; sons, Alan (Barb), Randy (Brenda) and Mike (Sundee); 9 grandchildren, Steven, Justen, Lisa, Randy, Susan, Kristie, Regan, Jenn and Heidee; 14 great grandchildren, Maloree, Kyler, Reece, Josie, Claire, Abby, Connor, Aiden, Kyan, Brooke, Jake, Cali, Brayonna and Aylah; and sisters, Jeanne (Gordy) Smith and Janet (Clarence) Ricer. He was preceded in death by his son, Dan. Friends and family will be received on Sunday, January 4, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 140 South Main Street, Wellington, and again on Monday from 1 until the time of service beginning at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cathy Ketchum officiating. A Masonic service will be held on Sunday night at the church beginning at 7 p.m. Burial will take place on Monday following the service, at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. The family has requested that donations be made in memory of Ralph to Wel-Help, 127 Park Place or to the Congregational Church.
