Obituary

Raymond E. Black, 65, of Nova, has gone home to be with his Lord, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky. Born in Lodi on October 31, 1943 to the late Osborne and Doris (nee Wandel) Black, Ray was a 1961 graduate of Ruggles Troy High School. Ray worked for the CSX railroad as a locomotive engineer for 37 years. He was a Troy Township Trustee, a life member of the NRA and had been a volunteer fireman. Ray was an active member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Ashland, where he served as a Deacon and on the pulpit committee. An avid hunter, Ray also enjoyed woodworking, boating, fishing in the ocean and trading knives with family and friends. Ray is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Laurie (Duke) Kilgore of Jacksonville, NC; son, Steve (Lynda) Black of Polk; along with, Gordon Zellner of Bellvue, Michael Zellner of Florida, Sandy (Rick) Arcuri of Delphi, Lori Masi of Florida, Shari Dixson of Bellville, Kathy (Daryl) Beasley of Millersburg and Annette (Allen) Bessey of Ft. Bragg, NC; 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Survivors also include his sisters, Jane (Dean) White of Nova and Anita Ashton of Nankin. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church, 891 State Route 511 North, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Pastor John Lowman officiating. Burial will follow at the Nova Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ray may be directed to the Trinity Baptist Church.
