Raymond Walter Donaldson, age 88, of Wellington, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria. He was born April 6, 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Ellis and Oceana K. (Hitchcox) Donaldson. He attended schools in Cleveland and Bainbridge. Mr. Donaldson had lived in Wellington for the past 14 years. He was a carpenter and a member of the Carpenters Local 509 Cleveland. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and trained his hunting dogs. Mr. Donaldson built muzzle loader rifles. He also repaired violins and wind instruments.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Vivian (Ward) Donaldson; his extended family, Scott and Aubrey Ward of Wellington and Eugene Forbush of Grafton; 1 brother, James R. Donaldson of Melbourne, Florida; 2 half sisters, Lareda Hess and Linda Wilderman both of Middlefield, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia (Smith) Donaldson and his extended family member, Neal Ward.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14 at the Pittsfield Community Church, 17026 St.Rt. 58, Wellington with Pastor Kenneth Gerhardt officiating. Memorials if desired may be given to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, P.O. Box 163549, Columbus, Ohio 43216-3549. Norton ' Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington were in charge of arrangements.
