Raymond L. Kettel, 80, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2020 at Ashley Court of Brighton, Michigan. He was born on November 7, 1940 in New London, Ohio to the late Leonard M. and Esther (Lohbauer) Kettel. Ray graduated from Norwalk High School in 1958 and was a member of the Ohio Air National Guard.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Norwalk Eagles Aerie 711. Ray enjoyed fishing, shuffleboard, watching the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers and spending winters with his wife and other retirees at Tidevue Estates in Ellenton, Florida.
He retired after 31 years at the General Motors Metal Fabricating Division (Fisher Body) stamping plant in Ontario, Ohio and was a multi-apartment and building owner/manager in Norwalk, Ohio.
Survivors include his son, Richard (Dianne) Kettel of Brighton, Michigan; his grandchildren, Sarah and Rebecca Kettel; his brother, Leonard (Mary) Kettel of Huron, Ohio and his sister, Betty L. (Charles) Christian of Norwalk, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Linda (Ruffing) Kettel and sister in-law, Joyce (Meyer) Kettel.
A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio with Msgr. Ken Morman officiating. A graveside service will be held after the Mass at St. Paul Cemetery. All guests are required to bring and wear a mask and practice all social distancing and mass gathering guidelines.
