Obituary

Raymond Joseph Liptak, Sr., 81, of Wellington, died peacefully with his loving wife at his side on Friday, January 5, 2024 in Berea after a lengthy illness. A son of the late Joseph and Anna (Drovdilich) Liptak, Ray was born on October 3, 1942 in Youngstown. He graduated from Jackson Milton High School in North Jackson.

Ray owned and operated 1 Stop Beverage in Avon for many years. He also worked as a foreman at SIFCO in Avon.

An avid golfer, Ray loved being out on the greens. He had his pilot license and enjoyed flying his airplane - often alongside his brother. Almost every summer, Ray and his wife, Gail, traveled to Arizona.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gail; son, Raymond Jr. (Hannah); daughter, Dana; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister, Kathy Evans, of AR and his adoring foster dog, Farrah. Ray was preceded in death by his son, Richard; brother, Joe and sisters, Barbara Polland and Eleanor Dierkes.

A celebration of life is being planned for a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Norton-Eastman Funeral Home and expressions of sympathy may be given at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
