Raymond “Ray” G. Gannett, 75, of New London, passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 28, 1950, in Willard, Ohio, to the late George and Janice (Coy) Gannett.

Ray attended Cloverleaf High School, graduating in 1969. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army alongside several of his friends. He proudly served his country in Vietnam as an air traffic controller. After returning home, Ray worked as a millwright and was a member of Millwright and Pile Drivers Local Union 1871. He was also a proud member of the Wellington Eagles #2051. From 2005 to 2007, Ray and his wife, Marjorie, devoted their time to serving meals to survivors of Hurricane Katrina through God's Katrina Kitchen, a mission they both deeply supported. Ray enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially loved camping and kayaking. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of more than 30 years, Marjorie (Bloxham) Gannett; his children, Jason (Randi) Gannett and Laurie (Dan) Jordan; his grandchildren, Christopher Rolfe and Marie Gannett; his great-grandchildren, Autumn, Tyler, Easton, Grayson, Cora, and Cheyenne; his former wife, Lynn (O'Brien) Herman; and many cherished stepchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Sheila Cutcher.
