Raymond L. Rosecrans, 72, of Sullivan, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at EMH in Elyria. Born in Oberlin on August 10, 1940 to the late Donald and Bertha (nee Gallatin) Rosecrans, Raymond was a member of the first graduating class of Black River Schools. From 1957-1961 he was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves.
Raymond proudly supported youth sports; he was a coach of youth baseball for many years and was one of the original founders of Black River Pee Wee Football. He enjoyed hunting with his sons, loved to play the guitar and also loved his horse, Buster. Raymond's greatest joy was watching his grandchildren play. As his illness progressed, they were his greatest joy ' from poopy diapers to the blasting radios, he loved them all.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Joyce Rosecrans; sons, Michael (Connie), Daniel (Jeanne) and Jason (Evelyn) Rosecrans; 6 grandchildren, Mandy (Shaun) Simulchik, Josh (Stacey), Megann, Rianna, Joseph and Ethan; and 4 great grandchildren, Trenton, Madison, Dillon and Frances. Raymond is also survived by a brother, Dennis Rosecrans and sisters, Betty Mitsko, Cindy Storrow and Carol Gillenwater. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Donald and James Rosecrans and sister, Dorothy Weyer.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, September 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. A private family service will take place the following day with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
