Heaven gained an amazing soul on February 1, 2026. Raymond Eugene Twining of Huntington, Ohio, joined his parents, Rollie (Ronald) and Muriel Twining, after a short illness.
Born June 6, 1947, Ray always said he had a bonus life after a serious farming accident nearly took his life at the age of 20. This accident gave him a true appreciation for life. He married his high school sweetheart, Sara Weiler, in 1968; they were married for 57 years. He is survived by six children who loved and respected him: Doug Twining (Michele) of Rochester, Jacquie Twining Starkey (Bill) of Spencer, Scott Twining (Judy) of Huntington, Kathy Frombaugh (Scott) of Rochester, Tina Miklosovic (Rob) of Chardon and Patrick Twining (Emily) of Huntington. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Anthony Young, Jr., Emily Cervellino, Alexis Young, Tyler Twining, Ryan Twining, Elliot Miklosovic, and four great-grandchildren.
Ray milked cows and farmed from the early age of 12. Farming truly was his life as he was an active member of the Ohio Holstein Association and the National Holstein Association. He was proud to have assisted in founding the Lorain County Dairy Youth Auction to support youth in the county who chose to show dairy animals at the fair – a project that doesn’t receive a traditional market auction check after fair. He retired from milking on his 70th birthday, but his love of cows and continuation of grain farming did not slow down.
After retiring from milking, Ray discovered the joy of woodworking with his brothers. These projects made him very proud and gave him purpose in filling busy mornings and afternoons when he couldn’t be out on the tractor. He found great joy in giving those projects to his family and friends.
Ray was a member and held the position of Master of Huntington Grange (until it disbanded) and was active in the Huntington Historical Society, the Sullivan Alumni Association, and the Black River Alumni Association. He was also an active member at the United Church of Huntington, where he often served in his favorite role as moderator.
Ray had the gift of gab and loved a good story. He had the uncanny ability to take someone else’s small story and turn it into something nearly unrecognizable by the original teller; and it was much funnier when he told it. He was very close to all his siblings and cousins, most of whom were treated as siblings. He enjoyed discussing genealogy with everyone and anyone who would listen.
Ray will be truly missed by all who knew him. Friends and family may pay their respects to Ray and his family on Thursday, February 5 from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the United Church of Huntington, 26677 State Route 58, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Huntington Township Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Ray can be directed to the Lorain County Dairy Youth Auction, 52237 State Route 18, Wellington, OH 44090. Condolences and fond memories can be shared at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
