Obituary

Raymond Stanley Williams, 79, passed away peacefully at his son's home in Texas on March 7, 2025. Born on March 8, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio, to William Stanley Williams and Helen Leslie (Leach) Williams, Ray lived a full life, devoted to his family, church and work.

Ray grew up in Brooklyn, Ohio, enjoying the Boy Scouts as a youth and graduating from Brooklyn High School in 1964. He survived a near fatal car wreck and subsequent coma at age 19 and spent the remaining 60 years jogging, juicing, and eating for health.

Ray enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and goats, and was well-known for overpacking his car with hay bales for his livestock. He worked at various jobs at General Motors for 38 years and retired from there in 2006.

He started attending church in the 1970s and was baptized alongside his wife, Renee, on January 10, 1976. He dedicated his life to church Fellowship, singing in the choir and writing innumerable cards and letters of encouragement to brethren around the world. His was renowned for his warmth, hospitality, and camping trips with his sons and their buddies.

Ray met his beloved wife, Renee Carol Robinson, in high school and took her to the Cleveland Air Show for their first date. They were married on October 5, 1968 and remained devoted to each other for 54 years. The marriage produced three sons and nine grandchildren.

After retirement, Ray enjoyed coin collecting, Everybody Loves Raymond reruns and quoting his favorite movie, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, as well as traveling with his wife, Renee, especially to Italy, their favorite destination. He was a lifelong supporter of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Guardians (Indians).

Ray is survived by his three sons and two daughters-in-law: Matthew and Barbara Williams of Mineola, Texas, Adam and Dianna Williams of Champion, Ohio and Jason Williams of San Antonio Texas. He is survived by eight grandchildren: Savannah Williams of Andover, Massachusetts, Sierra Williams of Mineola, Texas, Ezekiel (Zeke) Williams of Mineola, Texas, Sophia Williams of Mineola, Texas, Austin Williams of Edmond, Oklahoma, Alex Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, Alyssa Williams of Champion, Ohio, and Kaleb Williams of San Antonio, Texas. He's additionally survived by his brother and sister: Fred and Christa Williams of Florida and June and Bill Freedman of Florida. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Renee, his sweet unborn daughter, Lauren, his precious grandson, AJ, and his parents.

A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 8 at St. Emilian Social Hall, 1231 Substation Road, Brunswick, OH 44212. Light refreshments will follow.

The family request no flowers or donations, memorials may be made to a local hospice. The sweetest remembrance of Ray's life would be to send a card of encouragement, make a step toward family reconciliation, or assisting someone in need, his lifelong devotions.
