Rebeka Smith, 39, formerly of Sullivan, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Born on May 16, 1971 in Elyria, Rebeka was a 1989 graduate of Black River High School. Following high school, Rebeka earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland.
She worked as a Human Resources Technician for the past ten years for the U.S. Government. Rebeka enjoyed reading and sight-seeing. She enjoyed playing various sports as well as cooking and baking. Rebeka was a loving mother and took every opportunity to help with her son's classes in school.
Survivors include her husband of almost 12 years, Ryan Smith, of Honolulu; her son, Spencer; parents, Donald and Nancy (nee Read) Gibson; brothers, Rob (Anna) of West Salem and Donny Gibson of Wellington. She is also survived by nephews, Evin, Branden and Zach, and a niece, Maddie. Rebeka was preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald C. and Vera Gibson and Carroll and Helen Read
Visitation will be held Friday, April 22, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. with services beginning at 7 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington.
