Obituary

Rex Allen Gaubatz, 65, lifelong resident of Greenwich, passed away with his loving wife by his side on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 22, 1949, in Shelby, son of the late Conrad and Lenora (Leach) Gaubatz. He graduated from South Central High School in 1968. Rex started working for Sheller Globe in 1976 and retired with 34 years of service from CVG in 2010. He was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Norwalk. Rex loved his family, friends, home and pets. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles and trains from an early age. Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Carol (Wolfe) Gaubatz; sister, Judy Hatch of Texas; brother, Fred Gaubatz of Bellville; sister-in-laws, Karen (Hugo) Ferlito of Carmel, California and Kay (Dave) Miller of Willard; brother-in-law, Chuck (Sherry) Wolfe of Willard; nieces and nephews, Mark, Paul and Darla, Russell, David, Julie, Jill, Ryan (Danielle) Miller, Holly Miller, Craig (Tracey) Wolfe, Lauren Wolfe, Ashlee, Mark, Jennifer Ferlito and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rex was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Margaret Wolfe and sister-in-laws, Judy, Norma and Jeanie Gaubatz. Rex's family will greet friends Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich where a service will be held Monday, 11 am with Rev. Anthony Recker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
